Unhappy Shuttle St61g4 Will Not Boot - Help!

I'm trying to build a Media Centre PC based on the Shuttle ST61G4 but I can't get the unit to boot even into BIOS. This is the SECOND brand new ST61G4 I've tried but with the same results.

If I tell you what I’m doing perhaps you can indicate if I’m doing something wrong.

I’ve attempted boot using the following components.

Either an Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 800FSB 2.8ghz or Celeron D 2.66GHZ CPUs (both new) and either a stick of Corsair TwinX CMX512R-3200C2 or a stick of CRUCIAL 1GB 184-PIN UNBUFF DIMM 128MX64 DDR PC2700. I’ve also alternated which slot to put the memory in.

With only the cpu and memory stick installed and a vga lcd monitor and keyboard/mouse attached on power up all the lights on the front illuminate and the fans operate but no video signal is received by the monitor. I’ve also tried to boot with a sata hard drive and dvd burner attached but with the same result. I’m not using an external AGP graphics card.

This is becoming a very frustrating (not to mention expensive) situation. I’ve reasonable experience in building systems – normal desktop/tower systems – without any problems.

Is there something differnt I need to do before the the system wiil BIOS boot?

Yes all the fans are spinning. Everything looks OK ie lights, fans, memory LED but no video output.

Just tested the cmos batteries on both units and the reading are low/replace. Will a computer boot with a flat battery?

    Hi All,
The saga with this shuttle continues. Eventually sent the shutlle away to UK tech support. They managed to get the unit to bbot although a new cpu and memory sticks were required - these units are v fussy! So at long last I got around to installing Windows MCE 2005. Everything has gone fine except now whenever I enable the on-board Realtek AC97 sound the system freezes just after windows logon screen. As I have a Hauppauge Twin Tuner in the only PCI slot I really need the on-board sound to work. I've patched everything I can with latest drivers etc but now stuck.
    Anyone any thoughts?
    Thanks.
