Will my new build blow up!?

I am making a computer for my gf as the 7 year old prebuilt one i gave her gave up the ghost. It needs to be fairly budget minded but not too strictly budget hehe, it needs to be small form factor ish and a discrete graphics card is not essential, upgradibility in the future would be nice as well. She says she is happy to use the gfx on the cpu rather than have a discrete grpahics card or just buy one in a few months if she miraculously gets into games. Also all the prices are in norwegian kroner because that is where I live now, it is just more of a question of whether this stuff will work well together or not, rather than saying 5 quid here or there and also if I have made any obvious mistakes (missing important parts out lol) and whether I have fulfilled my mission statement lol. So this is what I came up with.:

    HDD:
    Samsung spin point f3 500GB
    385 NOK (39 quid)

    CPU:
    intel core i3-530
    995 NOK (100 quid)

    MOBO:
    Asusu P7H55-M
    779 NOK (78 quid)

    RAM:
    Crucial DDR3 1333mhz CL9 2x1GB
    450 NOK (45 quid)

    Case:
    silverstone SG01
    799 NOK (80 quid)

    Disk Burner:
    Generic Sony one
    245 NOK (25 quid)

    PSU:
Already have one! It is 400w Silverpower one with about 28amps over 2 12v rails.

    Operating system:
    Already purchased. (windows 7)

Total: 3653 NOK ... about 370 quid in normal money.

So will this work? Or will it blow up lol?

    Thanks in advance.

BTW in norway due to the parts i can get the difference between building a rig with an i3-530 and building a rig with a phenom ii x2 550 or an athlon ii x4 is negligible (about 10 pounds), hence why I went intel for the lower power consumption and the easy overclockability of i3's for if she needs more oomph in the future.

Looks fine, the i3+p55 is decent as a general purpose (non-gaming) pc
I would say check the prices on an AthlonII x3 or x2 + 785 chipset motherboard, it's the combined cost of cpu&motherboard which makes the intel more expensive normally.

If you want small have a look at the cost of a Lain-Li PC-Q07 and an mITX motherboard
AMD look for J&W eg http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/J-and...CI-E-8Ch-Audio
For Intel H55 Gigabyte do a decent board http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigab...X-On-Board-VGA as do Zotac http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Zotac...3Gb-s-Mini-ITX

Re: Will my new build blow up!?

Thanks pob for the reply. I assume you mean h55 not p55 in the first sentence. I looked at 785g chipset plus phenom ii x2 550 (which is a lot cheaper for some reason than the athlon II x4 ... I thought they were the same price roughly!). It came to just under 20 quid cheaper I believe, as I think of the phenom ii x2 550 being more for gaming, which isn't a priority for this build I thought the hyperthreading and thus better performance in winrar (it will be used for extracting large files alot lol, I should have mentioned that) will probably be worth the 20 quid. As an athlon ii x4 640 plus 785g chipset is slightly more or equal in cost to i3 530 plus mobo I decided to go i3 because it uses less power and in a small case with a budget power supply I thought that would be better.

But you saying it will work is a comfort lol, so thanks once again!

Unless you have a specific reason for going small I think the premium you pay for M-ITX stuff is too much.

Notwithstanding the above, if I was to go small I quite like the look of the Lian Li Q08 ( over the Q07) - see this review
