    Disposing of Printers

Would a standard model HP Deskjet from 2000/2001 (930c) likely to contain some sort of persistent memory or hdd that would store copies of documents printed

    thanks in advance

Even the business oriented lasers only use RAM, so I doubt it.

There are some (or used to be, I haven't looked recently) that had hard drives too. But they were very much high end, and with the advent of far greater PC power and network speeds I haven't noticed any for ages. And I've not noticed that capability even on any business networked inkjets.

As for the 930, no it certainly doesn't. It's a pretty dumb machine, with all the work being done by the PC in the driver.

It would certainly be a few years since I've seen one either ... but then, I haven't been looking.

I thought that might be the case - in fact my post originally said "high end lasers" but I changed it for exactly that reason

We were a low budget business

There were even high end printers that had what amounted to a whole specialised PC, let alone hard drives. It was effectively a dedicated postscript rasterising engine .... but they was aimed at a very specialised market. Epson did this on some of their high-end inkjets, but they were large format machines aimed at doing professional standard in-house proofs instead of Chromalins, etc.

But as I said, a very specialised (and pretty expensive) end of the market.
