Except the Coolermaster is out of stock. Stretch to another couple of quid and get the Corsair:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/650W-...Fan-ATX12V-v22

They have an excellent reputation and will serve you well for a few years.

Agree with the comments about the RAM, CAS9 is adequate for most purposes unless you're into lots of benching and like to see big numbers - in real world use you'll be hard pressed to notice much difference.

Zyte, The best thing you can do is google a review on the PSUs that catch your eye. Your spec is beginning to look what I ended up with when I did my build a few weeks ago. So you might want to do what I did when choosing my PSU:

    1. Checked of the power consumption of each component and added them together to get a ball park figure of Wattage required. You can find this info on the adverts or at the manufacturers website.

    2. I then thought about what might I add in the future. HDDs, SSDs, another optical drive or another GPU (in my case it will be an SSD and a BLURAY/DVD ROM. Add these potential extras to the Wattage total.
Now I have read on a number of sites that you will prolong the life of your PSU and considerable improve the smoothness of the power supply if you ensure that there is plenty of spare watts to play with. I think I worked my total requirement with future additions to be around 500w. So decided that a PSU between 550w and 650W would be more than adequate.

    3. I also checked to see how efficient they were and decided that a Bronze standard was a minimum requirement.

    4. Finally, did I go Modular or not, I went modular because I like a tidy computer and don't like lots of wires lying about. However, I would have got a non-modular PSU if all my primary requirements + modular came in above budget.

Once I'd got all my requirements, I used SCANs comparison facility and got a shortlist of 4-5 PSUs. I then went off, googled reviews on my choices and canvased HEXUS members opinions.

After about 2 hours work in total I arrived at my choice.

Edit: I'm not suggesting you should choose the same PSU as I did but the process I used has served me well in the past.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

    Re: PC Build Advice wanted.

For a single 5850 and a 125W CPU the 600w is going to be overkill; if there is a 500w and you don't see yourself xfiring in the future a 500W will be fine.

Check out today only if you are ordering as there are usually a few quid to be saved.

If you can stretch to this motherboard it is very good for the price:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...-SATA-RAID-ATX

If you cannot increase the budget then I would go for the MSI 770-C45 for around £47:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

This motherboard would also do the job but would be more limited for overclocking purposes AFAIK:

    Re: PC Build Advice wanted.

Issue with the rebel9 pro value, the big assed fan on the side and any larger cpu cooler.
With the stock cooler it'll be fine as will any low height cooler, but any 120mm fan based tower cooler and most 92mm fan based tower coolers will be too tall to fit.

The big fan also seems to be coverend with mesh but I don't know if it's filtered, if it's not that's going to be sucking in loads of dust.

I'd look at the economy version instead http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Shark...r-Case-w-o-PSU
You can then put a couple of filters over the side fan holes http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silve...and-Filter-Kit
You'll not be able to fit a fan to the upper of the two slots if you use a large tower cpu cooler but that's not a big issue as it'd not help anyway.

Could you please recommend a case that is no more expensive than the one I picked, which would be more suited for a bigger cooler. I am planning on buying a better CPU cooler in the coming weeks

Ok i have changed to the MSI 770-C45 board as recommended by CAT. Also i have changed the Rebel 9 case to a Coolermaster Gladiator 600. Will this be big enough to accomodate something like the AC-FREEZER7-PRO-REV2 at a later stage.

    Re: PC Build Advice wanted.

Your case is 485 mm wide and the maximum dimension of the AC is 127mm. I would guess that the AC will fit fine.

But to make sure when you have installed your motherboard in to the case measure the gap between the CPU and the far side of the case.

When you do this don't use a metal ruler.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
