I have one month to get my hands on a small laptop - I've been to PC World, and decided that 11.6" is probably the best size. 13.3" was just a bit too big and heavy for my liking.
I want to avoid Atom if at all possible - just want something a bit quicker, and I'm intending to put an SSD in it at some point, so hard drive space/speed is irrelevant. Graphics performance is also irrelevant.
Windows 7 Home Premium or better is a must, Pro would be nice for Offline Files.
£500 is the absolute max, would prefer to spend a bit less though.
Considered so far, without much luck:
Dell Inspiron 11z - Pentium versions vanished off the market
Dell Inspiron M101z - battery life disappointing, not particularly taken with AMD in this segment... not against it though if it's the best choice
Acer Timeline 1830T - Duke Nukem syndrome in terms of UK availability, and I don't want to risk importing
