    Quick Q on Rig building

I have all my bits for my new build now apart from the ATI HD5870 graphics card which is coming tomorrow. But I am impatient and want to get cracking on the build tonight.

I have an old 8800GTS laying about gathering dust, so I thought I could whack that in, so I could install Win7, and install drivers (except obviously GFX) and get all my applications and SSD sorted out.

Obviously my problem is that of installing windows with a Nvidia card, and then swapping to an ATI card. Of course I'm not going to be install all the nvidia drivers, and suites etc.

So it won't cause an issue will it?

Re: Quick Q on Rig building

Nah, shouldn't do. Just use the default drivers installed by Windows on install, and don't let Windows Update update the graphics drivers.

Before you swap the card, I would boot into safe mode, and uninstall the graphics drivers. Then shut down and put the new card in.

It's probably unnecessary, but I'd do it just to be sure that everything's clear.
