    RAID Boot question

I've seen people saying that the Revodrive isn't a fast boot drive, as the RAID drivers must be loaded before booting. It sounds like it takes forever, but in reality, how long does that actually take?

I'm assuming also, that if you have any RAID(ed) drives, even if not the boot drive, this process must still be gone through.

    Re: RAID Boot question

Yup, same process for all RAID set ups, not sure how long it takes, but it won't be any longer for the revodrive compared to RAID SSDs.

20 seconds extra on my LSI card with 4 SSDs, around 50 for Areca with 4 Raptors.

I have got both so 1:10 added to the boot time. I don't really care how long it takes to boot as performance once booted is fantastic!

    Re: RAID Boot question

Ah, 2 figure 'that long'. Damn. Was hoping it to be around 2-3 seconds, 'cause I could live with that (obviously).

I'm a sucker for fast boot times...

I was going to RAID0 two Kingston 128GB SSDs (already have one) for silly speeds, and use something like a Corsair F40 as a boot drive, but alas...

    Thanks for the replies folks.

EDIT: Though having just watched the Youtube video of the Revodrive, that didn't take long...
