A7N8X locks up @ 215 FSB
I've got a mobile XP chip which is currently doing 12.5*114 - which I'm v. happy with...
...but I I can't seem to run it at a lower multi. and higher FSB even if the resultant clock speed is nowhere near 2.6! I get lockups at the post screen although I've managed to get to the initial windows load screen but then get BSOD'd.
..I've got corsair RAM (BH-5) which I've had at 220 before (with my old chip)..
..could it be that the XP xhip doesn't like 215 and above?
The RAM is currently running with loose timings (2-3-3-6) - I'm unable to run memtest86 as my floppy packed in yesterday (I managed to force the power connector on the wrong way round!)
My VCore is at 1.8 but have tried the max available (1.825) but still no luck. The RAM is at 2.8
I'm using the uber 1007 bios in my mobo...
...anybody got any clues as to what could be wrong?

I assume that the VDDQ? Should I knock it up to 1.6?
-
I upped it to 1.7 but still no luck...it's really weird.
I'm gonna have to run memtest when I get a floppy to rule dodgy memory out - although I think it's probably the CPUt hat doesn't like the high FSB...

try the uber 1005 bios, i couldnt get over 209 fsb with uber 1007 but with uber 1005 i can get up to 222fsb with a unlocked desktop barton and 512mb of OCZ mem (bh-6 i think

possibly worth trying the L12 trick?
Can't link you to a guide but it's pretty straight forward and often really helps those with 133 cpu's that can't reach high FSBs.

And have you got anything cooling your southbridge? I slapped an old northbridge heatsink on mine and can now get 220 stable
-
you guys get SOME speed outta these babies huh?
I gave up at 180 :)
Maybe its just not meant to be ;)

I have the A7N8X-E with a Mobile XP chip, and can't get it over about 210-215MHz FSB either! I thought it might be my RAM though, as it's el cheapo PNY PC3200... Nearly spent a small fortune in cooling the other day to try and get more, but I'm giving up till I can afford water cooling. ;)

It was suggested nobody really took notice so read here:

That was just the first thing that popped up in google, as an avid member of www.nforchershq.com i've heard loads of success stories.

Umm, that L12 thing is totally confusing..... Anyone know of an easy step by step guide? I don't want someone to hold my hand through it, but I don't wanna blow my chip doing something I don't quite get yet.
:edit: The 13x multi looks reasonably easy to do, and am I correct in thinking the L12 mod is just connecting to pins on the chip with some sort of conducting paste? What household item can do this?
