Getting the BOOTMGR is missing/corrupt message

    Hi chaps.

I'm trying to reinstall windows 7 (as I'm still using one of the old builds) with no joy.

When I boot from dvd i get the BOOTMGR is missing(HDD a)/corrupt(HDD b) and it makes me restart.

All the fixes online say it's fixable by booting to the install menu and repairing windows, which would be fine but I can't get that far. I'm trying to install a genuine copy of windows, the cd works as I've tried it at work and it boots to the setup screen fine, just won't work with either of my Hard drives.

Is there a fix, will buying a new hard drive help? Or am i doomed forever?

    Thanks

    Russ

I know it's probably a stupid question but have you got the DVD drive set as bootable in the BIOS? I know when I currently tried to reinstall Win7 on my Asus P6T I had a similar problem and found that somehow I'd disabled that function.

You've tried formatting the disks presumably?

They aren't on a particularly unusual chipset/RAID device or anything?

Managed to get it working by disconnecting one of the hard drives.. Dunno what the problem was, but it's now formatted.
