    Thermal paste choice

I think my trusty Arctic Silver tube is about to run out. Not seen a comparison for ages, is this still the one to get?

I think the top brands are a much of a much really. The Zalman one that comes in a 'nail varnish' bottle got good review for being easy to apply with the built in brush.

I'm still using Arctic silver 2 until the tube eventually runs out.

+1 on the Zalman, much easier to get that nice thin layer that's required.

It doesn't show on scan how much is in the pot of MX-2, the MX-3 is 4g is it the same, anyone know?
If its 4g the same I'll have the MX-2 I mostly use it for fixing other peoples PC's,
I'm using Zalman ZM-STG1 (the one with the brush) on mine atm, although that Indigo extreme looks good for my next one.

    Re: Thermal paste choice

anyone found the zalman anywhere for a decent price? seems to be pretty limited in availability now and mine's ran out. Also anyone used the zalman with a HDT cooler (sorry for the threadjack!)

MX2 is also 4g but there is a larger 30g syringe available. I mainly use and like MX2 myself, it performs well and it's really simple to apply, just apply a dot/line to the centre of the CPU and screw down the heatsink.

    Re: Thermal paste choice

Got a second tube of AS5 with my x4 build, the tube before that I bought 6 years ago, so you certainly get your money's worth. AS5 has a longggg curing time, so not good if you change heatsinks more frequently than undies, but definitely still extremely effective after the TIM has set.

    Re: Thermal paste choice

I just used some AS5, it's stupidly long curing time is a bit naff so I don't know how it's performing at the moment.
It was a tad too gloopy for my liking as well and I had to fight it to spread it.
