Best 3D card for £250-£300?

I've got a stock 5870, never had any problems. A lot of graphics card problems seem to be caused by overclocking, even when they're factory overclocked... but some are definitely better than others. The GTX 460 for example, seems like a brilliant overclocker.

I've got the Sapphire Reference card (it's the cheaper sapphire one anyway) about 3/4 weeks ago, my friend got a factory overclocked XFX (I think) a few months ago. He sorted out his issues by underclocking his card back to stock settings.

Just using the ATI overdrive/control centre thing you get with the ATI drivers.

That's kwl, did not know that. I thought you would need to use an app like RivaTuner or similar.

Article from june! They were struggling a bit I think to find 20 cards. the 465 is truly horrible. the 5830 and gt240 are no classics either. the 5850 should be above the 5870 imo.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the 470. Same overly hot design as the 480.

Would prefer a 460 or a 5850/5870, depending on how much money you want to spend and how much performance you need. 470 and 480 only makes sense if you desperately wanted physx or 3D as far as I'm concerned.

Yup. The one in blue is the single card, although I suspect it is an overclocked version. Too slow internet to check I'm afraid, and not much time!

SLI and crossfire can be very unpredictable at times. If it's a close call, always take the single-card option.

The HD6850 is replacing the HD5830 and the HD6870 is replacing the HD5850. It seems the HD6850 and HD6870 cards have improved tessellation performance over the HD5830 and HD5850 too.
