Best 3D card for £250-£300?
I have lost track when it comes to 3D cards, quite alot has changed but i was wondering what experts would recommend for £250-£300 of my hard earned cash? Also Nvidia or ATI? :whip:
I hear that ATI have lots of cores than the Nvidia cards but the Nvidia cards are more efficient using less cores?
Thanks for your time and help. :)
Re: Best 3D card for £250-£300?
I've not really heard much about ATI and 3D, so if I was you I'd go for NVIDIA for 3D.
For £230 you can get a GTX470 - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1280M...2xDVImini-HDMI
Your GTX260 will have 216 cores, and that card has 448, quite an improvement over yours. That won't promise double the performance though. The 1280mb of memory will help with 3D too, with the 120FPS needed.

There seems to be some confusion in what is meant by 3D here...
Re: Best 3D card for £250-£300?
Well if I have been confused by the use of 3D, then I'd recommend either the NVIDIA GTX470 or the AMD 5850. Both available for around the same price and both very capable cards!
Or wait a couple of months for AMD 6xxx to be released.
Re: Best 3D card for £250-£300?
That Asus 470 is only £216 on Scan's TO this weekend which is a steal at that price, bundled with Maria II.
Or, as Mat says, wait to see what the ATI 6 series brings to the table. At the very least the prices should could come down on the current generation (although, as always, your existing card will devalue even further at the same time).
Re: Best 3D card for £250-£300?
What was the first Maria like? I'm beginning to realise how bad my spelling mistakes are.
For £230 odd GTX460 768mb in SLI would be my choice if I had two slots.
At £215 the 470 is great value and the 5850s are about 190ish on sale.
6xxx should be more than people were initially expecting!

All of you are saying to wait for the AMD 6xxx but as that will be the flagship card will it be within my budget? Apart from the advantage advised by marktime that the 5xxx cards will go down in price. :)
Also i can not wait too long as want to get the most for my current card before it goes down alot.
Been looking on the net trying to find out a release data for the AMD 6xxx cards?
Im hoping Next month Oct!!!!

Personally, I wouldn't go for the 470. Same overly hot design as the 480.
Would prefer a 460 or a 5850/5870, depending on how much money you want to spend and how much performance you need. 470 and 480 only makes sense if you desperately wanted physx or 3D as far as I'm concerned.

I've got the Sapphire Reference card (it's the cheaper sapphire one anyway) about 3/4 weeks ago, my friend got a factory overclocked XFX (I think) a few months ago. He sorted out his issues by underclocking his card back to stock settings.
