    AMD or Intel ?

    Specifically these

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-P...he-125W-Retail

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Intel...-Ratio-24x-73W

Both seem quite similar, i've looked at a few reviews and there seems little in it. For gaming mabee i5 seems to come across slightly better?

    So, your opinions please

Sell me one of those or another at a similar price. PC will be used for gaming mostly, but i don't want the expense of i7 with supporting mobo and RAM.

    Re: AMD or Intel ?

Keep an eye out for a 95w 1055T, not that many places are selling them and those who are only seem to be offering them as part of a bundle as they obviously want to sell the stock of equal-performance 125w versions which retail for the same price.

As for performance, in single threaded apps I don't think there will be a huge difference between the 2 CPUs although the extra clock speed of the Intel CPU should help in some apps. In multi-threaded apps or for multitasking however the 1055T will be much faster, that Core i5 is only a dual-core and offers pretty poor value-for-money IMO. If you're not planning on overclocking, go for the 650 instead of the 655k as it's exactly the same CPU without an unlocked multiplier.

    Re: AMD or Intel ?

Thanks guys, a google search is showing that CPU as available on scan today only. But it's not.

I've seen it at aria though.

Are Aria any good? And can you choose the day of delivery like you can with Scan. If i ordered it i would need it to turn up when i'm actually in

    Re: AMD or Intel ?

I used Aria to order my CPU, they were the only retailer with it in stock and it arrived next day along with the other components I ordered from scan.
