Question Netbooks all so similar! Which one?

Looking for a netbook for my mum. Want a reputable brand and good battery life. She only needs to do web browsing, email and word documents. So I'm not sure which one to get? Looking for nearer the low end as surely could get an older version as don't need newest and best/processor?

    Samsung N130
    Asus 1001P

Samsung one is older than Asus one though (but cheaper).

Do you know any which come with Windows 7 as standard? Also thinking now. Even though she only wants to word process and email. She will be linking it to a 22" 1680x1050 Screen and keyboard and mouse when at home so she doesn't have to hunch over a small screen when working on it for hours at a time. Will netbooks have the power to cope with this?

Whats the difference between Starter and normal editions?
My mum has a larger 17" dell laptop which she uses as her desktop replacement in the house (shes self-employed) and her office in the garden has a 22" screen, keyboard and mouse but no computer to go with it right now. Shes sick of carrying the large laptop in and out of the house. So was thinking of getting her a Netbook for her work which she can plug into her screen when at home so she feels it a desktop and then can just pick it up and go for when shes out of the house. I was gonna use Dropbox to make sure all files were synched between the 2 laptops. Would this work with a netbook?

    Thanks

Starter has less features and functions than Home Premium version of Windows 7.

Connecting to an external monitor is fine.

Netbooks are sluggish due to the Atom processor. If your mum doesn't multitask, it should be fine though.

However, you might want to upgrade to CULV processors (e.g. HP DM1, Acer 1410/1810).

PS. You must have a big house to get tired of carrying a laptop from home to garden office

As usxhe said I would definatly go for a CULV laptop over an Atom powered one they just feel so much faster. Scan have a viewsonic viewbook 120 for £325 which is a 12" laptop and dual core celeron with windows 7. While its not the fastest thing out there it beats an atom hands down.

The website below, I found quite helpful for comparing laptops and searching for ones you might be interested in. Its has links to two reviews on the viewsonic.

On the review site it doesn't really have that good reviews. The site itself recommended against buying it!? Also its not so much the screen size but the fact that the dimensions of it are a bit bigger than a 10 or 11 inch screen's. Mum said she would prefer one with smaller dimensions as just wants to pop it in a hand bag and go kinda thing. Also, I was thinking that I could link the more powerful 17" Dell to the bigger screenso am not so much worried about power now. More about battery life and portability

In that case, go for a netbook. In fact, see which one your mum likes in looks. They are all very similar as you say.
