    1st build complete (almost)!!!!

I did it! I actually built my own PC!
Just got the H50 on, connected everything and it posted 1st time! (hope i'm not tempting fate).

Thanks to everyone on the forums here for answering my dumb questions! You help is really, really appreciated.

Just ordered Windows 7 student so will get that in when it shows up next week.

One thing - the bios hardware monitor says CPU temp is 39-40 degrees. Is this OK? Its an i5 760.

    So frigging pleased right now!

Don't be too happy, the first is the easiest. Or at least it was for me. It's only now that random problems such as a stupid dvd drive failing to work happens!

I'm not in any kind of mood for positive thoughts. Sigh.
BTW, right click the images on facebook and copy image location and then post that.

    Re: 1st build complete (almost)!!!!

Yeah I just noticed your thread about the DVD drive. Oh well I hope it works out for you soon mate.

Lets try these photos again then:

Edit: Thanks for the photo tip Nibbler...

Oh and I know the Corsair pump is off centre. I thought it was ok as it was going in and as i clipped it into the bracket I noticed. Bit pissed at myself for that but its not a windowed case so its not really a problem.

    Nice one mate
Are you close to my age if this is your first build then? (I'm 16)
I had the corsair pump off centre too, makes no difference Infact, mounting it upside down apparently improves cooling.

Haha no I wish I was 16! I'm 30 but just getting round to building my 1st PC. Use to buy pre built crapboxes from PC World etc. Been wanting to do it for ages but just couldn't spare the cash for it until now.

Looks good to me; i suppose you are going to go SLI soon with a PSU that large.

Have you tried to stress your system yet?

BTW Watch out for dirty old men trying to entice young boys (I'm sure Nibbler is in his 40s)!

welcome to the pc building club, your a similar age to me. I get far l;ess hassle from rigs I build than others get from prebuilt ones. IMHO partly down top control over what gets instaleld both software and driver wise. Biggest problem I find with laptops is the maker trying to overide stuff windows does well, with the ir own software thats basically ****

Yeah the plan is to stick another 460 in it. Probably after xmas.

Haven't stress tested it yet as I'm waiting for windows to be delivered.

Oh and thanks for referring to me as a young boy!

Thanks, the monitor is an old Xerox one with the glass panel over it which got cracked when i moved home so i pulled the glass off and now I just keep it as a spare. Gonna buy a new one once the PC iss fully working.
