Case manufacturers upgrading circuits from USB 2.0 to 3.0?

Waiting for a reply back from manufacturer, but I anticipate the answer will be no.

As most integrated USB ports on cases I've owned had a removable bit of circuit board with cables connecting to motherboard headers. I thought premium case manufacturers might offer updates if there was a market for USB 2.0/Firewire 400 to USB 3.0/Firewire 800 replacements. Has anyone seen a company offer this?

Edit: I just thought, is there any difference between the USB ports? If not then can you connect a USB 2 port to a USB 3 header and it will function as a USB 3 port?

while usb 3 will work with USB there are 2 extra cables and a longer connection to allow usb3 to connect to them so no you cant plug a usb2 header in.

and 99% sure it will be a no. just buy a usb3 card for any usb3 devices you have.

i was curious if there is anywher you can buy the parts and mod cases yourself?

No there are none.

What is more there are no motherboards that have a USB3 header.

All current motherboards that support USB3 do so via a seperate controller chip, so only support usb3 via rear sockets.

There are a couple of cases that have usb3 however ther are via through and through, ie the cable from the front just goes ut the back and then plugs into a socket on the back

I hope the need to use rear ports is just a limitation of how motherboard manufacturers have implemented their design. And once USB 3 becomes more common we will see headers, or something better, appear.

It's a limit of the controller chips currently used to supply USB3 and I seem to remember that the specs for the usb3 motherboard header still haven't been finalised.
