Which one do you have in your shuttle, and have you had problems?

I just powered up a brand new 875P one [well had been used once] and the PSU has died...

I've only had one shuttle psu die on me and I think it was down to a power surge at the clients office.

I had the 220w which powered all my gear fine but I've just got a 250 silentx for the headroom.

I wasn't trying to overclock anything - I am talking about a DOA one. Why would I bother to overclock in a shuttle, I run one as my office rig.

Nah just not everyone overclocks or sees the need.

I recently built 2 shuttle PCs for people in / around the office - both with 220W PSUs. One was a SB62G2, P4 2.8GHz, Radeon 9100 based system and the PSU buzzed slightly after it was on for half an hour or so. The other one was a SB75G2, P4 3.2GHz, Radeon 9600 XT, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, etc... The PSU buzzed really loudly after about 5 minutes - quite a high pitched peircing noise - and TBH I reckon it would have blown up sooner or later - from my experience and from reading around the 220W PSUs can be problematic... Swapped them both out for the Silent X's both of which really are quiet and cooler than the 220W jobbies. My SN41G2 at home had the old ACME 200W PSU which I had no problems with though I've also swapped that out (as it's also got a Radeon 9800SE in there now and I figured the 200W wouldn't be able to power it - never bothered testing that theory out though)

I got a SB61G2, with a stock 200w PSU in it running:

P4 3.06GHz
2 x 256Mb PC2100
120Gb IDE HDD
40Gb IDE HDD
LiteOn combo drive
Hercules 9800SE AIW

and it runs fine. The only problem is the heat generated from the PSU which is hitting 80C. At first I thought it might be overloading, by I have been informed that it is not a problem at all.

Bought 3 complete SN45G2's and got three SilentX psu's for very little on top *turned up at the shop with a bundle of cash - worked out as about 6 quid per PSU. *

Swapped immediately. Seem to be nice psu's - quiet, stable. THinking of something to do with the original PSU's though...maybe involving a DrawerPC

Only problems with Shuttle PSU's is the early ones not firing up with a 9800pro in. SilentX fixed that.
