Cost Effective HTPC?(Dell Zino?)
Hi, im trying to set up a HTPC. Im wanting to watch things off youtube/bbc player etc. Aswell as normal def xvid etc movies off a hard disk. And normal web browsing. After a small, quiet, low power unit.(Not atx/mini atx) HDMI out.
Im looking to spend around £300.
Im capable of building my own from scratch, but ive also been looking at the Dell Zinos and similar machines. Im also wondering if theres any net book style laptops that can do HTPC?
So what is the most cost effective route to go? Just need some advice cuz theres a lot more HTPC possibilities than there used to be. Dell Zinos seem to be the neatest solution ive seen so far tho.
Re: Cost Effective HTPC?(Dell Zino?)
acer revo is a good choice. it rocking a atom processor with ion graphics so it's a more than capable htpc. even with windows 7 still comes in at less than £300

An alternative is the Zotac ZBox.
If you need to disk drive, try the AsRock 330.

Dual core atom boards with Ion are ~100 ish if you doing a BYO - I did for my parents media centre and it plays back 1080p flawlessly (via CoreCodecs CUDA decoder). Given that all the board is missing is RAM it's pretty good (even after you add in the box, psu, hdd etc).
