    2.5" 1TB drives

I'm after a couple of these drives. One for a laptop, one for an external enclosure, but I don't understand why:

1TB (1000GB) Western Digital Scorpio Blue Hard Drive - HDD
    1TB Western Digital WD10TPVT, Scorpio Blue, 2.5" HDD, SATA 3Gb/s, 5200 rpm, 8MB Cache, 12 ms, 12.5mm

    £99+VAT

    and

1TB Samsung Spinpoint MT2 Hard Drive
    1TB Samsung HM100UI/Z4, 2.5" HDD, SATA 3Gb/s, 5400rpm, 8MB Cache, 12 ms

    £69+VAT

Why is the western digital SO much more expensive?

    Cheers...

    Re: 2.5" 1TB drives

Western Digital Drives are generally more expensive than Samsung, although not usually by this much!

Could just be a premium for 2.5" drives, or because of stock issues? Seems to be a global difference though, looking around, not just scan.

200RPM slower too, really doesn't make sense.

    It's 4.98*

The 5200rpm is probably a mistake, the western digital is 12.5mm so just make sure it will fit your laptop as they are normally 9mm. Samsung drives are getting cheaper, I bought a Samsung 640gb for £45 when other brands are around £20 more.

I'd be fairly surprised if they weren't both 12.5mm.
