Can someone recommend me the best possible laptop for under £400? All I be using it for is casual use in University as well as the odd video game such as Quake LIVE, WoW, etc.

I was thinking of getting somkething off Scan as i get free delivery from then, but I was thinking if I really want to get the most for my money I should get a reburfished one.
Under £400 you're not going to get anything particularly capable of gaming. The best you're likely to manage is either an AMD based laptop with HD4200 graphics or a Core i3 (even that might be pushing it), and neither of them are really that capable, even for casual gaming.
Refurbished you might be able to get something half decent, but it'll take quite a lot of searching. And no disrespect to you personally, but as a new member there's only so far people are likely to go to help (making sarcastic second posts on your own thread isn't likely to help that much either, tbh ;) ).
Hopefully by now you've found the small form factor and portables forum (it's a sub-forum of this one) which has had a couple of similar threads to this in the last month or so: you may find some answers in there. Or - why not find a couple of machines you like the look of and mention them in this thread: then people will at least have a starting point to know what you're looking for.
Dell M101Z or M301Z, some configurations are under or around £400.
Get anything you want...not really a big choice there. You haven't said what requirements you want.
I usually recommend Lenovo but Dell is pretty good as well for the money. You can also look into Acer and Toshiba.

Certainly, if you're not too bothered about build quality this machine looks pretty impressive on paper for the money. If you are, however it's likely that you'll want to go slightly over budget to ensure you get something that doesn't sacrifice performance too much. In such an instance, I think the Lenovo from eBuyer (£440) looks like a good buy.Quote:
