    2xOCZ vertex 2E (raid0) - performance log

I've got my lovely 60GB vertex 2Es a few days ago and I did not hesitate to raid them.

Considering the well known concerns regarding to the performance degradation, I have decided to create this thread and update it once a week (or once every 2 weeks..which is better?) as I suppose many pple are interested in this subject. I'm curious about the actual symptoms of it, furthermore I wonder how long it takes it to happen in an average scenario on a "power user" level...

(if it's in the wrong section please move...also, please let me know if this is irrelevant and I don't bother with it )

so here comes the first run...it's a newly installed OS, running for 2 days...(I've used atto with the same settings as in this hexus article)

    any suggestions are welcome ;-)

Do you have some sort of program to replace the Trim function?

I'm not planning to do anything with it...I just want to wait and see how it goes

You will reinstall/reformat your OS 10 times before any negative effects of lack of trim will start to affect you - so nothing to worry about

    Re: 2xOCZ vertex 2E (raid0) - performance log

Well seeing as Hexus was getting about 275 MB/sec for a single SSD

Your numbers are looking about right, a bit lower and taking a bit larger block size to hit an avarage speed, this could all be down to controller latency.
That's still blisteringly fast seeing as more 7200rpm HDD's are around the 70-90 MB/sec mark going up to about 130-140 MB/Sec for the F3 or cadavar black

:-) so it seems that the performance degradation thing is overrated...I wonder why are so many sites highlighting the lack of trim then? I haven't bought SSDs up until now because I was afraid of wasting money...
btw, it's still on offer on scan...it's money well spent if you ask me, even with the lowly integrated raid controller...
