    Rather a good deal?

I know it's windows vista and only 2gb ram but add another module for about £25 and you're laughing. a 128GB ssd as well, and it looks great, best looking laptop I've seen in ages. Thoughts?

    Re: Rather a good deal?

That's unbelievable value. Is this company reputable?

I've absolutely no need to buy another notebook, yet I'm strangely compelled.

    Good find!

    Re: Rather a good deal?

Seems to be reputable having read a few pieces of feedback. I just think it looks like the perfect laptop for uni if you upgrade to win7 for £30 and add 2GB of RAM.

    Re: Rather a good deal?

i saw this last week or so on hotukdeals... was so flipping tempted!. But I unfortunately want to get a 15.6" laptop , and my loan/grant hasnt come through yet so im stuck waiting which maybe in that time the price will drop .

Im also thinking of just buying a cheapy laptop with an OK cpu (low voltage but ok performance like this one) and just adding an SSD myself... maybe ebays in order. However if you got the money id say this is a good buy mate, solid design aswell!.

    Re: Rather a good deal?

Theres also the acer timeline which is a bit cheaper but lacks the SSD.... and yet has better battery life, doesnt look better IMO but id say its your own choice.

Maybe you can add an SSD to the timeline, if you can then it would be better than the Dell for similar money with more ram. Other than that their specs are almost identical but the acer has 0.2ghz more processor speed and LED backlit screen (i guess this is where the battery life is from).

edit:Yes I forgot my parents were like... "we bought your sister a £500 laptop once before and you got nout really so if you find you want/need a laptop for uni then well get you one for Christmas". Might have to see whats on offer nearer the time.

Also this laptop has come down like £150 over the past few months (£50 increments) so it might actually be better to wait .

    Re: Rather a good deal?

Hmm that's disapointing. 2GB enough for win7? I don't know :/ At least running on vram off an SSD wouldn't be too bad I guess?

    Re: Rather a good deal?

I've got 2GB of RAM on my Dell XT2 (Intel U9400 1.4GHz) with Win 7 32-Bit. No trouble with performance at all, in fact I've disabled the page file to extend the life of the SSD. I've never seen my RAM usage go anywhere near 2GB, then again I haven't been running any memory intensive applications, Crysis doesn't run well on a 1.4GHz CPU apparently.
