If it does that would be so kick arse!

Can anyone verify this? I got a NEC 2500 as well
Found this

and this
It looks this the 2500a takes the firmware without and problems, the problem is he dosent have any media to test it on. It looks very promosing though
EDIT: 2510 firmware can be found on this page, all the tools to flash are their too. I dont have the courage
2nd EDIT: IT WORKS! look here
3rd EDIT: This could be a serious bargin! The 2150 is on sale in Japan at just under £500!!!! I picked up my 2500a for £80 , oh and apparently the 2100a drive will also flash to 2150.

Sounds good - but the lack of media and more testing mean that I'm not going to bother for a bit anyway - looks like the 2500a could be a serious bargain (currently retails £60)
yeap it looks like herrie has come up with the goods again !!!
Nice one - I'll get someone @ work to get this validated

edit :: looks like it works according to cdrinfo.com but we cannot test as yet due to the fact that we have no DVD+9 media at the current moment.

ah that's probably why then. thanks, i like getting tips as i'm new and crap at burning. is this the same for backing up games from dvd? i'm a great one for scratching discs and now take and use my back ups.
Google dvdshrink, thats the end of that. Anyway DL disks probably wont go on sale for a couple of months yet so we will have to wait for more conclusive evidence. But the first indications are that is wont be any problem , and people were telling me to wait for DL drives.

Is not not legal to make a personal backup of media you own such as music, films etc ??Originally Posted by Agent
