A colleague of mine has some music on tape that he would like to record onto his HDD and then onto CD. He has 2 phono outs on his stereo and one line in on his PC. Is it possible for him to connect them up and record his tapes.

if he is going to be doing a lot of tape to Mp3 to CD and vice-versa then the following item may interest your friend

Other than that I usually use a headphone to headphone cable and plug 1 end in the headphone socket on the hifi and then put this to the microphone socket on my soundcard.
Now using winamp - I record the files to mp3 and volia instant music
hope this helps
