Since my long-time owned Logitech Black Internet keyboard didn't stand up too well to the dishwasher treatment, I've been rocking around with an HP standard OEM USB keyboard.
And whilst that would be fine for my purposes, it 'forgets' you are holding some keys (shift in particular) and also occasionally misses key presses at random all together. Highly annoying when typing, devastating when playing CS or SC2.
So I thought I'd just buy a new keyboard. But no, it seems the keyboard I want to exist simply doesn't any more. I thought you guys might be able to help me. :-)
What I'm looking for:-
1) Good quality keyboard which I can game on comfortably
2) USB connection
3) Within a budget of £50, preferably a fair way under that
What I really can't stand:-
1) The "\" key being above the enter key -- what the hell?! It seems this has become somewhat of a standard nowadays. Whilst I'm sure I'd be happy with hitting the enter key, I really want the "\" key down next to left shift, as its an extra key I can use whilst gaming.
2) The Insert-Home block being rearranged or moved down toward the arrow keys. Insert should be inline with the backspace key, and the keys should be arranged 3 across, 2 down.
I don't mind about all the other gimmicky things you find with keyboards now. Ideally the keyboard would be no larger than it needs to be (to add to portability and help save desk space), but its not a massive consideration.
Any suggestions at all are very welcome -- I'm literally tearing my hair out over this at the moment! :-) Or perhaps my exacting standards are too high for modern keyboards... :-(
