Seems fine - no SSD ? If you're spending that much, seems a shame not to.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Is it really worth buying SSD ?

Cheapest from Scan (as an upgrade option) is '64GB Crucial RealSSD C300, 6GB/s, Read 355MB/s, Write 70MB/s (£93.10) add £93.10'

    Thanks

    Ownage system.

psu might be a bit excessive. I am sure a HX850 would be fine but still maybe stick with the hx1000 since everything else seems to be pretty much top spec, without descending into insanity.

This has convinced me never, ever to go near a GTX 480. Ever. Even if it's not mine.

    Re: 3XS Intel X58 Core i7 - Gaming PC

    Save £15 switching to http://www.scan.co.uk/products/6gb-(...-8-8-8-24-165v

    Save £68 switching to http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-...-year-warranty

I would re-invest the savings into:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1536m...x-dl-dvi-mhdmi for +£10

or consider 2x 6850 in Crossfire for ~£50 less but ~8% better performance (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...ssFire/23.html)

SSD would be very nice addition but 64GB is really a bit small, try a 90GB Sandforce or 80GB Intel.

    Re: 3XS Intel X58 Core i7 - Gaming PC

you could do that with most GPU's or CPU's so i don't really see the point. if it can hit 100 degrees C it can cook an egg, infact it doesn't have to be 100 degrees.

There's another video of the heatpipes cooking a piece of steak
Performance wise they can't be beat of course - just a personal thing about having something that hot in your computer - if you're WCing like gonzo then also no issue.

Originally was going for the 850 but decided to go with the 1000 in case I want to use dual graphics cards in future.... two 480's....too hot to handle... ??

Looking at around another £150 for SSD - whats the real benefit of this ?

Is there any issue with upgrading / installing this at a later date?

ooh got me thinking about best graphics card/s now..... benchmarks do look good for crossfire 6850, notice nothing good in stock at Scan. Would probably be looking at 2x '1GB XFX HD 6850 Black, 4000MHz GDDR5, GPU 820MHz, 960 Cores, DisplayPort/DVI/HDMI' ?
