I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that link is going to work. Maybe a screenshot would be a good idea?

I know, but I think it's a private link - i.e. it will only work when you're logged in. I'm logged in as me, so your link doesn't point to anything.

Unless you like taking risks, replace that PSU with a 400W model that costs about £30. Cheap PSUs are likely to fry themselves and the rest of your PC. Have a read through this thread for a similar price build with some more sensible suggestions for PSU

Otherwise it looks like a good build: that's a great price for an HD5750!

Re: Opinions Welcome on very cheap Build for Gaming

as said above, a good 400w psu for £30 ish would be plenty enough juice for that system and last longer as well as not damaging components or being super loud and in efficient.

i think if your going to go for a ddr3 system i would get 3 gb of ram is using a 32bit os, 4gb if not imo. 2gb just doesnt seem to cut it anymore on windows 7/vista.

Getting micro atx for any reason? as case is a full atx, dont see the point getting a smaller mobo unless you want a smaller case. Also on case front, is there enough cooling for this spec?

I heard the 5 series of Ati had a few problems with filtering etc, as well as bad drivers so maybe look at nvidia alternative?

Other then the ideas above seems good to me. Should be a good budget gaming rig.

p.s. dont know if it has occured to you but price drop to x2 athlon might help you get a better gpu which is really the main component when gaming.

oh also, always worth checking out today onlys with scan on the day you buy sometimes a upgrade may actually be better then the component you originally was going to buy. They also do cpu, mobo, memory packs occasionally.

Re: Opinions Welcome on very cheap Build for Gaming

Thanks for the input, it already has 4GB of ram, there are 2 lots of that 2Gb Hypertec.
I have been thinking about the PSU thing aswell and was thinking the corsair 430W £35 ish one possibly but with regards to the cheaper one I could only find positive reviews of those PSUs and have also seen alot of people slagging off the new corsair for whatever reason.
I probably wouldn't drop the CPU down to X2 to save £5 I don't think
i got mictoATX bevause it was cheap and has on board graphics so can be easily sold on.
Cooling should be coolas I just want toplay some stuff in Ok settings mainly strategy games and will not be overclocking etc

Re: Opinions Welcome on very cheap Build for Gaming

Ummm what reviews? I cannot find a single review of a psu made by a company called "storm"
I've seen reviews of psu's with storm in the name, like the Jeantech storm or FSP Blue storm or even the old Sharkoon Silent Storm

A 600w psu for £18 . . . see this barge pole? that's about as close as it should come to a pc.

Re: Opinions Welcome on very cheap Build for Gaming

as said above... just dont go there, you need to remember reviews only cover performance at time of test, if you have it blow in a year, not only have you wasted money, you have possibly caused damage to components.

Re: Opinions Welcome on very cheap Build for Gaming

No matter how cheap the build is, it's not worth saving a tenner to watch it all go up in smoke. Any criticism of decent PSUs like Corsair will be people niggling over minor issues that really aren't anything to be too concerned about.

As for good reviews of useless PSUs, that's nothing new. People buy a PSU for £10, put it in, it works, perhaps has a couple of LEDs, they post a complimentary review. When it blows up in 4 months time, and burns their house down, that review is still sitting on the web. Generally speaking, reviews of PSUs on the internet are worthless. I trust JonnyGuru, and that's about it.
