    3G Phone (lg u8110)

Ok just been into town and unless someone can seriously put me off I am gonna have one of these new LG U8110's

    http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/May2004/7008.htm (reviewage)

Anyone on 3? Whats service like?

I hear download speed is roughly 128kb which aint that bad.

Tarrif is £25 for 500 minutes any network + £10 for unlimited all content downloads (thats footy, new, music, entertainment etc) + £0 for first 3 months unlimited txt.

    Thoughts please?

I'm gonna get an LG 8150 when my current 3 contract runs out in September.

Well depends what you are after mate, I'm not sure where you get that download speed from as that is vastly superior to everything else i've seen.

Personally i wouldn't phone enough people or use it enough to make use of spending £35 a month, I prefer content stuff on PC's and prefer e-mails to text.

I believe Moby-Dick wanted to do some stuff that 3's network implementation didn't support, stupid things like bluetooth on his phone etc.

I would seriously phone 3 up and ask what and what they don't support on that phone and ensure you get it written down so that if you are disappointed you can complain that they miss-sold you it which will allow you to get your money back.

    Just my view...

Looked at it in the phone shop the other day, was amased by the pay as you go stuff they have going. Really cheap. But the phones i looked were huge....so if that phone is small i would say go for it, they seem pretty good.

How long does the battery last on that phone? On the other 3G models it not very good from my experience.

    Battery life

    Battery is 3.7V Li-Polymer at 1200mH.

    Standby: 120 hrs
    Talk time: 140 mins
    Video call: 100 mins

Battery life is affected by lower signal strength and to which network you are hooked up to.

An example : Maximum voice calls time on 3G is around 140 minutes whilst on GPRS is higher at 180 minutes.

Hold out on 3G till next year when the service will start getting better.

Get yourself a Orange SPV E200 they are fantastic, built on the Windows Smartphone technology.

I watched a simpsons episode on mine this morning while I was going to work.

    £50 on orange with a £25 + contract 2 of my m8s have em but I ain't that impressed.

Get tvtool for it if you watch stuff like that (you can flip it sideways and watch in widescreen).

The only thing is with them is that you can only really get stuff that you can get on your pc, 3g offers stuff on the move.

3 is good IF your in a coverage area, otherwise your put on O2 (shocking anyway) but its made worse as its reduced service = no MMS or GPRS (yet anyway)

Also the LG fone is crippled compared to most fone. no bluetooth, no mp3, no memory card slot...and still has poor battery life like most 3 fones

I got my SPV E200 for free on contract I pay £37 a month and get 200 minutes anytime and 500 texts plus 7MB internet access. The good thing about the SPV is that you can use it like a mini Pc, I have got everything on there ranging from TV guides to crazy games through to episodes of TV shows.

It's also coming out on Vodaphone soon.

3G won't take off till next year really, why get a video phone unless you really need to see the person you are talking to?
