I'm not an expert on AMD builds by any means, but the Samsung F4 is the HDD of choice, I don't think you'll need more than 4Gb RAM, and the 600w PSU is a bit OTT. What brand is it ?

    Re: Newbie help with spec

I would change the hard disk to a Samsung F3 1TB as this would be faster. I would get the following motherboard instead:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-8...-sata-raid-atx

I would get the following PSU instead:

Quality over wattage. Sometimes unknown brands dont even produce the claimed wattage.

The PSU Cat linked will do that system just fine

And it's not an exaggeration. Pretty much every other build thread on Hexus features one of the regulars here advising a better PSU as someone's chucked a £20 no-name 600W PSU in their build. There's a good jonnyguru review where they took about 12 no-brand PSUs and put them through their extensive PSU testing rig: most died very quickly indeed

Yup. Or even just keep earthing yourself by touching the radiator. This damp weather will help as well.

Do you need asnother fan ? I don't know. Does the case come with one ? I would get one myself, but if you're on a budget, leave it out and see how the temps are. You can always put one in later.

Im on a budget but purely because im impatient, can spend another 200 quid out my december wage if need be so ill just wait and see how it gets on then if required ill start adding fans.
