I am trying to install Ubuntu on my netbook (Asus EEE 1005P) and want to create a new partition for it to dual boot.

There's already 2 Partitions created it seems, C: and D: Both about 60GB.

I don't want it using all 60GB of the D drive so thought I'd allocate about 10GB in another partition. So I did all that, but during the process of formatting it comes up with 'dynamic disks are not supported by this operating system' and is left as unallocated space.

Is this due to only 2 partitions being allowed?

Also, there's 100MB of space used up on D: but I can't find what it is. Is this just empty space? I don't really want to install ubuntu on it and then it screw some sacred files up that I can't see or find Will it be safe to ubuntu this section?
