    Laptop Problem

ive been having problems with my Asus x59sl the screen refuses to turn on when i boot it but more worryingly when i connect external monitors nothing shows up

the laptop sounds like its doing post test over and over it spins the cd a bit and hdd then starts off same sequence on both

ive had it apart cleaned off all the dust and grime tried unpluggin hdd cd ram and even wireless card and booting without any of them in to see if it was one of them causing a conflict but didnt work

i did get the screen to load up once it showed the motherboard screen u get when ur pc first turns on but didnt list any drive / ram like it does normally and once the did come on screen i was unable to do anything but turn off the laptop by holding down the power button

so here is wat ive learnt so far

    the screen does work
the graphics i presume must work as it loaded up the motherboard screen
removing hdd cd ram or wireless makes no difference

ive tested the hdd on my pc and it shows up fine
i also havent used any usb devices when booting it up because i know that can cause conflict infact i havent plugged anythign other than the power in

ive looked at a couple of help thigns online some say hold down power button while laptop is off for so long and it fixes it :/ .... tried it didnt do anythign ¬,¬

im running out of ideas and im not wanting to take it to a person to fix because i know i will get charged an arm and a leg in labour and they will probs go for replacing the screen or something

    any idea would be appreciated

    Re: Laptop Problem

Sounds like the motherboard is toasted if I had to put my money somewhere, equally though it could be GPU/RAM/CPU.

If its still in warranty I would RMA it, otherwise either shop or new laptop.

Maybe others will think of something I haven't done but it sounds like something serious has gone wrong.
