decent cheap mobo for q6600?
I think the motherboard in my main computer has gone pop (all the tests point that way) and was hoping to get a few suggestions for decent, but relatively cheap, replacements - preferrably with vga out and 4 ddr2 ram slots. I'm not concerned with overclocking so it doesn't need to be too fancy! To go in the board I have, as a minimal set:
- Q6600
- 4x1Gb ddr2 pc6400 ram (ram asks for 1.90v I think, so a board that isn't too temperamental about non-1.80v ddr2 ram would be good!)
- nvidia 8800gt 512 pci-e
ta :)

Tough call, unfortunately many new socket 775 boards are ddr3 now
Still for onboard graphics + 4x ddr2 + socket 775 then a G41 is probably your best bet

If you wanted to push over clocks and don't mind no onboard graphics then you'd want to push to a P45 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145748
Re: decent cheap mobo for q6600?
G41 is perfectly usable, have had a couple myself, downside is ICH7. Watch out for Gigabyte designs which have RAM slots which block long cards in the PCI-E 1x slot.
I'd suggest hopping on eBay and looking for something better though, there are bound to be plenty of P965, P35 or P45 motherboards on there 2nd hand with more robust specs than a G41 board. The Gigabyte board in my sig was cheap a year or more ago and my Q6600 is stable at 3.2GHz, it goes much higher but for quietness and lower power usage I keep it there 24/7...
