For low cost get the Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus it's only a little more and much better.

Can be got for closer to £20, however play does free shipping on a single cheap item like this
Does a great job on an i5 cpu and very quiet when you set up the fan control PWM correctly.

    Hi Pob255
Thanks for you reply can you tell if the cooler is easy to install and does it come with the heatsink paste already applied, this is my first build and the easier the better! Is it big and cover my Gigabyte P55A Memeory slot?
    Thanks in advance

It is easy to install, you do need to fit a back plate, so need access to the back of the motherboard, if this is a new build then I always install the heatsink before putting the motherboard inside the case, it's much easier.
It doesn't come with per-applied paste but does come with a tube of decent paste.

There's a great guide for applying thermal paste here http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=5

    What I did was
    1 fit the backplate
    2 apply paste
3 carefully place the cooler as I would if I was fitting it, but not attach the cross bar.
4 push down on the cooler to spread the paste, twist the cooler slightly to left and right, again to help even out the paste.
5 lift off the cooler to check the coverage of the paste, apply little extra dabs in areas that need it (or wipe off excess paste)
6 place the cooler back down and attach it with the cross bar.

Most fiddly thing is attaching the fan, wire clips can be a bit tricky, make sure you get them the right way around.

    Thanks Pob255
That was a great help, and I'll look at the thermal paste application.
    Cheers

    Re: i5 760 Aftermarket Cooling

I may be wrong here but when I was building my system I remember reading that the Artic Freezer coolers weren't great for quad cores. In fact the 212+ was the cooler I initially wanted but Scan didn't have it in stock so i spent a bit more for the H50. Scan also updated their 3xs systems to remove the artic as an option for the i5 760 systems not long after.
The reviews I read of the 212+ all gave it high marks so it should serve you well. And for less than £20 its a great deal.

EDIT: you qualify for free delivery from Scan and its cheaper with them too:

    Re: i5 760 Aftermarket Cooling

Yep the ACf7p version 2 was just a change to the mounting system (so they don't have to make separate coolers for each socket) and an improved fan (the PWM doesn't break and some other minor tweeks to improve it) apart from that it's unchanged, you can run it on a quad core but the fan will run quite fast and noisy to keep the temps down.

The only time I ever hear my 212+ is when I stress tested the cpu to check my overclock is stable.
