    Help choosing a power supply

    Hi
Im thinking of building a new system with a Gigabyte GA P55A-UD3 Motherboard and an i5 760 with a GTX 460 1GB and a DVD R/W and maybe 4 sata H/D in A Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced.

The PSU's I'm thinking of are the Corsair HX 850W or the Antec New Power 650W !
Will the Corsair be miles too much Wattage? Will the Antec not be enough Enough ?

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly received!

    Thanks

Re: Help choosing a power supply

You could get away with alot less than 650W, something like http://www.scan.co.uk/products/520w-...-12v-120mm-fan would be more than enough, but I would choose this, http://www.scan.co.uk/products/620w-...-12v-120mm-fan since its only £1 more.

Edit, if you dont mind non modular, you could get away with http://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-...ingle-rail-atx, which is on Scan today only for just £41.

Also if you do shop from scan, remember your hexus scan free shipping, if you have more than 20 NON SPAM posts

The 520w seasonic will be fine for what you've listed, the 620w if you think about going sli later

I would look at this Antec PSU:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/245671

    It is made by Seasonic.

Re: Help choosing a power supply

Good call, I keep forgetting about the New Antec, which I do believe is based on the new S12II Bronze in the same way the Seasonic made Corsair TX's where base on the original S12II

    Also look at the
    Be quiet pure power http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190751
    and 600w E7 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176739

    Thanks to all of you.
Since you have mentioned the Antec would anybody go for this 650 to give me room for SLI and some overclocking at a later date? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=40313

I have this and you won't find a bad review for it anywhere. What I like though is that it has just the right amount of cables hard wired and plenty of modular cables for whatever you're likely to add
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

I also liked that about it, do you think that it is a good price £83?

Re: Help choosing a power supply

I paid £77.26 at SCAN on a Today Only with free p&p so £83 is not excessive although it does turn up quite frequently on Today Only so if you are prepared to wait you could get it cheaper.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

Re: Help choosing a power supply

£12 less than I paid for it...£18 less than SCAN today. Free postage. Good PSU from a reputable OEM with a 5 year warranty. I'd buy it.

I can't comment on Ebuyer as I have not bought from them but in the end it is your choice.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
