    Check the Spec'

    Hi all,
A friend and I are planning a build, a gaming PC, water cooled, for approximately a grand. Rough plan was an i7, X58, 6gb RAM, and a 460 GTX. I've been looking on SCAN and XSPC mainly.

    So far I have:
    SYSTEM
    Intel Core i7 950 Bloomfield 45nm, 3.06 GHz, QPI 4.8GT/s, 8MB Cache, 23x Ratio, 130W, Retail
    Asus P6X58D-E, Intel X58, S1366, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 2000 (OC), SATA 6Gb/s, SATA RAID, ATX
    6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3, DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600) Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.65V
1GB MSI GTX460 HAWK Talon Attack NVIDIA Graphics Card
    1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 Hard Drive - HDD HD103SJ x2

    CHASSIS AND COOLING
Coolermaster HAF 912 Plus, Black, Mid Tower Case w/o PSU
    Corsair Memory XMS3 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600) Triple Channel Desktop
EK-FC460 GTX - Acetal + Nickel GPU waterblock
XSPC X2O 750 Dual Complete WaterCooling Kit
    Noctua NF-P12 Vortex-Control Quiet Case Fans, 120mm

Only problem with the HAF is that it doesn't have a case window to show off all the pretty!

I would appreciate any opinions on compatability, performance, or value (or anything else really)
    Thanks,
    Max

A bit confused Are you planning to buy a per-built system or just using scan's xspc system as a base for the specs?

My answer to the window, mod it

Bill Owen showing how it should be done, he's actually going to be releasing a tutorial for this mod, just not sure when as yet.

    Re: Check the Spec'

If you're watercooling anyway, I'd personally be very tempted to go for a price hacked GTX470 - they may not be pleasant with the stock air cooling but they're damn fine cards once you slap a waterblock on them

I'm not sure what you mean Pob, this is a spec list i've researched myself. Does SCAN have an XSPC pre-built system? I was going to use the XSPC cooling kit as a starting point for the WCing if that's what you mean?

As for the window mod, yes, that's another option, just a bit less convenient!

Interesting point about the 470 - is it going to be faster than the OCed 460 though?

    Re: Check the Spec'

Sorry I was getting mixed up with the 3XS systems scan do, ignore.

For the modding if you don't want to do it yourself chilledpc do a modding service http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=36_68 you need to send they you panel
Kustompc also do a modding service where they will fully fit a window http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Case_Windows.html and you can ether buy the case from them (although they don't currently list the HAF912) and get it done or send them your panel
If you go for ether then you'd need to contact them first, it might be worth contacting them anyway to find the price for what you want done
