    Broken PC

The family PC appears to be dead, the hard disk windows installation has gone corrupt, and I have tried running a few different windows bootable CD's, (Vista, XP pro, and XP home), none of which it has recognised as a bootable device. It also wont recognise a brand new WD hard disk I bought. I have tried running it on all 4 SATA ports, but am presuming some part of it has gone. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

    Thanks

EDIT: Also could anyone recomend a cheep (if possible less than £300, less money is better) PC that can replace it for if I cant find a fix tomorrow (would go for a custom build, but cant as I will be back to uni tomorrow).

    Thanks agan

    Re: Broken PC

You can either get a PC with an AMD Athlon II X2 240 or an Intel E6500 for around £300 from Dell:

The AMD based system does have a better IGP though.

    Re: Broken PC

Thanks, sounds good, but am not sure how keen they are on dell, given that it is a dell PC that has just broken.
