Smile New to building computers... help!

I'm planning on building a gaming computer in about 4 or 5 months time for around £800. However i don't really have much experience with building them so i was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on what parts to look at as i have very little idea. And also would getting a water cooling system be sensible with my budget or would it be better to get a good air cooling case?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Start looking in 4 to 5 months time. You can post for builds closer to the time. You can tell us

what you want you want your new PC for
screen size and if you need a new one
do you need an OS or to fator in any other software or special hardware.

IMO not really worth it for water cooling unless you are going to put everything under a heavy OC. I think the money woul probably be better spent on better gear. But its not something I have a lot of experience with.

As pointed out above by Ginger their really isn't any point asking now if your planning to build in 4-5 months, simply because technology moves that fast something else will be out by that time.

What I would say is that on your budget water cooling is pretty much a no go as you need to pump a certain amount of money into it which could be used for better components, you could maybe look at a corsair H50/H70 if you wanted the CPU under water cooling as their closed units and require little or no expertise to setup, but again unless you plan to overclock its probably not going to be worth it.

If i were you i would just have a go at spec'ing up a pc from amd and intel now to see what you can
get for the money. Then you will have had some practice at it and know whats what when you do
    come to actually doing it.

You should start keeping up on prices of things such as DDR 3 ram, SSD's and gpu's so you can
get a feel for how much things should be. Also read on whats coming out when such as intels
sandy bridge chips and AMD bulldozer as you might find you want to hold off an extra month to
get one of those, what chipsets are coming out with what features and when new gpu's are out.

Also you can look into less power related things such as cases, monitors etc
