    Steam... problems

Okay so steam has been working spot on since install for a week or two now.

Was playing empire total war in Steam today, got blue screen (had to disable speed step to fix this) and since i restarted it wont start, i log in and it crashes.

I have reinstalled, completely deleted all folder and reinstalled, same problems either way.

    Any ideas?

Anything else CPU intensive you can launch to test? Preferably something that stresses the HD too, maybe try running an HD benchmark to see if that causes a crash too?

got burn in test on the go now, seems okay.

Have you tried running as administrator and removing any compatibility mode settings?

    Re: Steam... problems

Have you tried deleting the "ClientRegistry.blob" file located in your Steam folder? It might be corrupt, delete it and Steam will build another one. Worth a try anyway.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Steam is a terrible piece of software if you ask me, always causing problems.

    Just ask Apple.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Steam... problems

I had a similar problem years ago with a Cossacks game. I was much less experienced at the time so I didn't find out what caused it but anyway, I was playing it then the motherboard fried. Repair guy came out and replaced the motherboard but the game wouldn't run again for some reason. I forgot about the game for a while but I tried it again after reformatting and it worked. Maybe Windows holds a grudge against software?
I know that's probably of no help but you're not alone!

    Re: Steam... problems

As a last resort reformatting should sort it, and it would probably have it sorted faster then trying to figure out what's causing it.

    Re: Steam... problems

Strange, never had that before. Glad you got it sorted though.
Edit: I've just though, Stem can update ATI drivers now, maybe that has something to do with it. Also were the drivers up-to-date?
