So I've got the motherboard and cpu which are both excellent. The mobo is not the USB 3 version but does have some blue usb ports O_o

Now onto the issue of trying to get an I/O shield and a VGA Switch card.
I emailed ASUS and they said they didnt have any to send but to instead to look on their online store.
Looked on the online store - no I/O shields.....

decided to phone up to be put through to a netbooks representative BUT there is no motherboard department in the call centre :'( (he couldn't really help - fair enough)

So now i am a bit stumped of what to do. I have sent another email so fingers crossed

That really is a bargain, I grabbed a 95w 1055T for about that price when they were released. Very impressive system!
I wouldn't let the I/O shield bother you too much, try to keep positive pressure in your case to keep the dust out but I wouldn't pay any attention to the EMI crap you hear - plenty of cases have acrylic windows on the side much larger than the I/O shield gap. I'm not sure about the switch card but unless you're using a high-end card, running it at 8x probably wouldn't make a lot of difference anyway.
