SODIMMs are not so much of a problem, sure you can't get performance parts but you can pick up 2x 2GB 1333MHz for less than £50 now.
This could well be the board I use when I build a new pc next year. Although I'm hoping there will be a few more to choose from when Sandy Bridge launches.
Don't think I've seen any mini-itx from gigabyte yet.
