My Heatsink artic cooler.ram ddr3 kingston 1333 k2 value ram, maybe need better clocking on both memory and voltages.the motherboard is intel dp45sg ,graphics card is a 9800gtx+ 1 gig.cant even play call of duty black ops ,damn thing got hick ups. seems like if i push the cpu to 2.8 it runs but then i have internet connection.ethernet goes dead.PLease help me.I know i need to upgrade to quad core but tight on money right now my memory timing right now is 9-9-9-24tras

    Re: E6550 intel overclock

If you're running the memory at 1521MHz that'll be what's causing your instability, probably. You need to set your memory multiplier to 1:1 to ensure the memory doesn't limit your overclock.

    Re: E6550 intel overclock

Put your memory ratio to 1:1 and there's not hope in hell of you even getting it to stock speeds before the chipset or cpu hits it's limit. (ie if you don't overclock the memory there's no chance it will hold you back, currently you're also overclocking the memory which just cannot take it)

When you overclock you want to only overclock one thing at a time to find it's limits, bfore you start pushing another part.

    Re: E6550 intel overclock

Ahh yes after some reading up this board basically sucks for overclocking because of a total lack of BIOS options.
Basically it's designed for stock setting only not overclocking.

you can try setting the memory to ether 1066 or 800mhz then overclocking the fsb, seems to be your only option
Once in windows use CPU-Z to check the actual speeds of both your fsb and memory

    Re: E6550 intel overclock

yes I got the ratio down 1:1 by changing ,1333, to 800,now overclocked it to 3.25 ghtz front side bus is at 1860 and the memory bus is at1117 at it seems stable my fps went from 37 fps to 62 fps wow big difference. And my cpu temp is only at 45 :c not bad was getting warm must have just warming up but now its good.is it ok to keep it running at this speed thoe .Thank you for your help.Let me know if you think this is safe to operate it at this temp,or at this speed, will my board fry if i keep pushing it?
