Decent A4 Photo Printing - All in One Canon ??????

I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer, and I currently have a Canon IP5200 (about 5 yrs old) which is misbehaving. I also have a fairly elderly Canon Lide 20 scanner. Now I would quite like to combine the two if possible. I have seen some specs and 1 review on the new Canon MG8150 which is a 6 ink all in 1 with what looks like a decent flatbed/good film scanning option as well as an improved printing option (over what i have atm) As it adds grey to 2 blacks and 3 colour.
The other option is something like a Canon Pro A3 9000 MK2 or 9500 MK2 as they have currently £100rebates off them and work out at £249 and £349 respectively. HOWEVER:

Thay are not all in 1's
They are not Wireless (which would be really useful)
    They are much bigger
They are more expensive ( I can source the MG8150 for £230)

Will I get much superior print output a@ A4 from a £200 - £350 Inkjet Printer over the multi function ?? Or will it be alot more money/sixe/effort for a little return.

I will be wanting to print up to A4's mainly of people in both colour and mono. I also have a library of old family prints and 35mm negatives, some of which I would like to digitise (Hence a good quality scanner is also a nice addition )

Thanks for the continued input as I swap around my photo system

I have the MP640 printer, the one down from top of the range.
At the time the top of the range one was too expensive, and whilst I don't do monochrome printing so the grey ink is just something to dry out, I do miss the ccd flatbed of the previous high end model I had.

My one down from top level prints very nice colour though, and the CD printing is a bonus.
Last I saw the previous generation top model was *very* cheap on Amazon.

You can also now get cartridge chip resetters if you want to do your own refilling. The only serious inkjet user I know goes that route, he calibrated the printer against a set of cheap inks and that reduced his printing costs quite a lot.

Re: Decent A4 Photo Printing - All in One Canon ??????

I bought the MG6150 for a colleague recently, and it's fine. Probably as good as my iP5300, so I don't think they skimp on the photo printing part of it.

I can't comment on the scanner aspect of it though.

Personally, if space wasn't a concern and I wasn't selling prints (though you can get away with it), I'd be getting a iP4850 - pretty much the same as you've got now - and pocket the £150+ difference. I doubt there's much difference between these 5 ink printers and the 6 ink ones - for any real difference I think you'd have to look towards the 8 or 9 ink ones.
