    New mini-ITX build recs sought

    Hi,

I'm urgently building a Mini ITX system and need some help narrowing down the parts. I'm on a budget but obviously am willing to spend enough to get the system I need. Here's the lowdown.

Need a graphics card that can deal with at least 2 monitor ports. Can deal with DVI or VGA.
Want the fastest Intel processor I can manage.
Will consider third party fan that fits but ideally want the whole thing to be as silent as poss.
    2-4 GiB RAM.
The more USB ports the better.
Probably interested in a cheap SSD at least 32GiB.
Wifi card with connector for external antenna.

Haven't built a system for over a year so any help in speccing out a parts list would be greatly appreciated

    For a motherboard recommendation:

Zotac H55-ITX-A-E has 10 USB2.0 ports at the back.

    The newer revision Zotac H55-ITX-C-E has 8 in total (6 USB2.0 + 2 USB3.0).

Both have a built-in Wifi card, and from what I hear, both boards can run Lynnfield cpus in addition to Clarkdale. The C-E revision has heatsinks on the mosfets which may make a difference with the higher wattage cpus.

Thing is it's important I can use a graphics card with at least 2 outputs. Can this do that?

The graphics card will probably be limited by the case more than the mobo as most ITX mobos should take a full size graphics card with two ports. Have you seen this shop with ITX specific components? No connection to it apart from being a happy customer

This is usually the case i.e. two ports usually mean two monitors can be supported. However, it is best to check that the specifications explicitly state this before you buy the card

Re: New mini-ITX build recs sought

Not sure on the intel side, but the amd (Asus m4a88t-i) motherboard I have, the motherboard can output to one display whilst the graphics card can output to a 2nd display.
