Only that I'd come at it from the other direction - I need my laptop to do <insert list>, what hardware do I need to do it, and what will it cost, rather than setting a budget and then deciding what to spend it on.Originally Posted by petercook7
As for hardware recommendations, I don't have suggestions because my use of laptops doesn't need that type of spend. I'd get what I need for half your budget, and have a decent chunk of change left over.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I agree with josh on this one but if your determined to buy a laptop, I'd go for the gx660.

iirc it has a better HDD and RAM than the gx740
What do you want the laptop for?
Is it going to be carted around alot, desktop replacement? Games machine, CAD/Design system?
