Mobo with loads of SATA ports and onboard graphics

Hi,
Does this mobo exist?

C2D with 10 (or more onboard SATA ports) and onboard GPU. I'm hoping for something to use as a file server. I don't want to use a hardware RAID.

Alternatively I'll settle just for 10 SATA ports and bung in the cheapest VGA card I can find. Does that make it easier?

I would say no unfortunately, as there may well be S771 boards with more than six, but most Intel chipsets for S775 shipped with six and when manufactures added additional controllers they were for e-SATA rather than regular SATA.

There are a few Supermicro boards with 6 SATA and 8 SAS but that doesn't really help.

Most Gigabyte S1366 (and some 1156) boards have 8 + 2, but again that doesn't really help.

I know of one 775 board with 10 SATA ports, the Gigabyte EP45-DQ6, review at bit-tech, there are not many of these around - good luck.

But... I don't understand why you don't want an SATA card? It doesn't necessarily have to be a hardware RAID card. All Intel motherboards with more than 6 SATA ports as Skulltrail pointed out use additional SATA controller chips, this approach is no different to the way SATA cards work.

From an educated guess; boards with 10 SATA ports will be a premium enthusiast or server board, you will have to pay well over £100 for one. You're much better off for value with a 4 port SATA card plus the 6 ports the standard Intel boards offer.

main issue is most boards with onboard are mATX so tend to have limited sata ports

But at the same time 10 is a lot even for most boards.

you could get a pci-e sata controller card however the cheap ones are only 2 slot and the 8+ are expensive
