    Quick hardware build assistance!

    Hey guys,

Having not really kept up to date with the latest hardware I'm trying to build a basic PC and getting a bit lost... I don't overally want to spend a few hours reading so hoping someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction!

    All I want is some advice on what to buy for;

Pc that is only going to be used for basic office type jobs, plus streaming media over the network. Would be very useful if it's capable to off playing back 1080p as well (surely most decent CPU's can do that without a powerful GPU anyway?)

Only real 'must have' beyond that is 6x SATA II ports.

Any thoughts on Mobo, CPU, RAM, GPU (or on board?) would be very welcome! I'll be alright finding case/psu/HDD's etc

    Thanks!

    Sean

    Thanks Pob

Based on that, I've come up with this:

Look okay to everyone? (had a couple of beers and want to order it in a minute!)

    Ta!

    Re: Quick hardware build assistance!

A good quality 300W or 400W power supply will power that type of setup no problem.

With the motherboard you could move down a bit if you want to save money with either the cheaper Asus M4A88T-M/USB3,
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...-raid-matx-vga

or Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H which seems solid but no USB3.

Save another £5 and get the Athlon II 255 instead.

I would also look at getting 2 Samsung 1Tb Spinpoint F3 in place of the other hard drives. Saves you £70 and you get an extra 500Gb.

    Basically what Pob said earlier.

    Re: Quick hardware build assistance!

    Cheers Cheapy.

Noted on the PSU, but going to go for the larger one, gives room to be used again then.

I wanted the M4A88T but it's sold out, and I'm an Asus fan boy, I'll admit as much!!

Would rather spend the extra £5 on the cpu

Don't understand your hard drive query, 4.5TB of storage with my setup, 2TB on yours? I'm sure im missing something... ?

But I'm happy, was more concerned over ram that wouldnt fit or something silly!

    Thanks guys

I would probably get the 45W Athlon II X2 240e:
