Help me with my new computer please thread!

Hi guys,
pc finally died on me this week and been wanting to build a new pc in the near future but that time has come sooner it appears. want to build a nice gaming pc budget of around £1000 here's what i have so far any advice, suggestions etc will be hugely appreciated

You are missing a PSU in your build and the GTX580 is not the best value GPU to get. I would be more inclined to get a GTX560TI or HD6950. The case seems a decent choice although this one might be worth considering:

What resolution are you gaming at??

Will 650w always be enough for a single gpu system. Tbh i never plan on being a watercooler or going Sli but i want a pc i can upgrade easily and that is future proof. I have a 1980 by 1050 monitor i believe.

Is it 1680X1050 or 1920X1080??

An HD6950 or GTX560Ti is not too far off a GTX580 and if you want some more grunt an HD6970 or GTX560Ti will do the job. I would check the build guide. Instead of spending £383 on on GTX580 and keeping it for three years,it makes more sense to get a £200 card and upgrade to another £200 card after two years. In two years even a GTX580 will look slow compared to a £200 graphics card.

The 650W PSU will be fine for two HD6950 or GTX560TI cards.

However,there is some noise that the HD7000 series is being released this year too so I would not be spending £383 on a GTX580.

sorry my bad 1680x1050 thanks for your help thus far. What about the ram i've heard the fins can be an issue on the vengeance.
Also is there a more future proof board you would suggest other than the U3DP

The £750 build in the guide I suggested will be fine at 1680X1050. I would get the Crucial M4 128GB,8GB of DDR3 and with the more expensive case and PSU you should be under £1000.

Do you think it's worth getting an SSD yet. I want one but budget is so so despite me saying i can go up to 1000. What i mean is if i were to install one at a later point is it very hard to then turn that into your boot drive at a later point?
What 560 Ti would you suggest?

Also off the subject slightly is it v hard to learn to overclock?

You can get that silverstone booster. What you do is essentially use your normal HDD and then later on you can put an SSD. It acts as an inbetween as a cache for the normal HDD. You get SSD speeds and the storage of a normal HDD and best thing is you don't have to reinstall anything!

If you budget is a bit more constrained forget about the SSD and concentrate on the other components. A GTX560TI or an HD6950 should do the job.

It also comes with a free copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution too.

You can always clone the Windows installation onto the SSD or re-install Windows. It might be worth getting a retail copy but AFAIK as long as you keep the same motherboard you can re-install an OEM copy.

What you can do is get the case you want and get the bits suggested in the guide which means you should be well under budget. Unless you really need Quick Sync and SSD caching I would get a cheaper P67 based motherboard over a Z68 based one.

A Core i5 2500K even at stock is fine. The important thing about overclocking is to not to use too much voltage and do extensive stability tests.

I would consider the same MSI 560ti but in HAWK version - it is twin frozer III that is meant to be quieter. I searched and found it was better when I was considering my build. I went for a 6870 in the end.

Also, the PSU - read up on the ANTEC truepower - they get good reviews (they are seasonic psus). I went for the TP 650w modular at around £60 (scan).
