Spec me a laptop for my dad

Hi guys, im on the lookout for a budget laptop for my dad.

he wants a 15.6inch size screen that can play HD movies, browse the internet and do a bit of document writing on it.

Other main things needed for this laptop is to be from a well known brand that have brilliant customer service and a laptop that is VERY reliable. Please, dont spec me a acer one, they are awful and the reason why he is looking for a new laptop is because his acer one is screwed up!

I too have a acer and that is messed up too but i will save that for another thread titled "spec me a laptop for myself" when the time comes lol.

I quite like my acer till it got stolen ... but anyway

Did you look @ the Dell website ? They have Xmas sale on now - plenty of options.
Also if you have any relative in education you can claim a discount off them (which isn't always same and isn't HUGE either but still helps)

TBH Acer makes some good products. Depends on which model. The Timeline series are good.

What's your budget?

They all vary in thickness though so please check what he wants. They all have nice keyboards. Playing HD movies, you would want a glossy screen.

must have bad experiences with acer it seems or have they improved their build quality over recent years?

I think it depends on which model you go for. Each brand has their cheap vs good product lines.
