Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
Am thinking about upgrading but just deciding about if it is worth it in terms of money. It currently plays most of my games at a decent rate but I think it may start struggling outputting 1920 x 1200.
Here are the specifications:
Shuttle SD37P2
Q6600 SLACR CPU
Radeon HD5770 with Quiet Cooler
64GB Samsung SSD Drive (Cheaper Version)
500GB Samsung HD501J(?)
4GB Patriot RAM PC-6400
LG Blu-Ray Drive with DVD RW
(Bowers and Wilkins MM-1 USB PC Speakers)
So any ideas about price? I think it is probably worth selling the speakers separately as I doubt the buyer would want them with the machine!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
I have an SD37P2 V1 with a Q6600 and an HD4830 512MB. I can run most games fine at 1440X900 and 1680X1050. I will probably get an HD6850 1GB at some point early next year and it will mean the system will be fine for most games for another year or so IMHO.
An HD6850 1GB is around 40% faster than an HD5770 1GB at 1920X1200:

You should probably sell your HD5770 1GB and get an HD6850 1GB for around £135.

Like Cat, unless you really want to upgrade to a whole new machine (and are looking for an excuse to do it), I would just upgrade the gpu as the rest of the kit is more than adequate for the job.
However, if you twist my arm to give you a guesstimate price, then £275-350, try selling on hexus classified (http://forums.hexus.net/classifieds-sell-your-stuff/) or ebay.
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
Hi there thanks for the replies.
That make more sense then to keep it, I was just expecting the i7 processors to blow the Q6600 out of the water, it is around 3 years old I believe now!
But if it still can play modern games I guess keeping it may be a good option, it is just that I was struggling to play F1 2010 on top settings and so thought it may need an entire system overhall.
In the specifications, it says that my PSU is 400w, does anyone have any idea what is the maximum graphics card I could handle? Money isn't too much of a problem.
Thanks for the advice so far!
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
I have the 450W version of the Shuttle PC55 in my SD37P2 ATM. You can get this for around £100.
Have you overclocked your Q6600?? Even on stock voltage your should be able to get a small overclock with your SD37P2.
An HD6850 1GB also does not consume much more power than an HD5770 1GB:

Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
I've found the higher power Shuttle PSU's, because the only have 40mm fans, tend to be a bit noisy. I'm modding my Shuttle case by fitting a 500w mATX PSU, which you can get considerably cheaper than the shuttle ones. Just a suggestion...
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
The P2 Shuttle SFF PCs use a different form factor PSU than what Shuttle normally use:

Also, the PC55 also has non-standard motherboard power connectors too meaning you would have to redo the power connectors on a standard PSU.
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
Thanks for the replies but I guess that I was looking for an excuse...
I've just gone and ordered:
Lian Li V354B mATX case
i5 2500k
Asus P8P67-M Pro
6GB HyperX 1600mhz RAM
Corsair AX-750w PSU
OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB SSD
Freezer 7 Pro
ATI HD6870 Graphics Card
I will then shift the Blu-Ray and 500GB HD into the new PC build.
So I will have the:
Shuttle SD37P2 v2
4GB of HyperX PC6400 RAM
Q6600 G0 Version
Sapphire 5770 Graphics Card
Samsung 64GB SSD
What would the rough prices on those be?
Sorry, I didn't take the advice on overclocking, I've never done it before so don't really want to start now!
And so I will now have the

Why did you buy the Core i5 2500K when the cheaper Core i5 2500 would have the job and also has full visualization support too?
Re: Price Check: Shuttle SD37P2 v2 With Blu-Ray
Hmm, I don't really know.
I like having the option to do things even if I don't actually do them.
Probably thinking in the long term as in 3 years it maybe falling behind quite a bit, and so if I have the option to Overclock I probably will, with the UEFI on the motherboard it is meant to be very easy too,
