OMG cant remember how to fdisk and format lol

    hi all

god i feel like a newbie it is very rare i have had to fdisk or reformat my harddrive been lucky i guess/hope

but anyways got some new bits coming and i aint built a system in 2 years

i got new h/d coming for me and my old one for sis but i just been thinking how the hell do you format and fdisk them again lol heres what i think just guide me if im wrong

    both having xp on

set bios to boot from floppy
    restart with 98bootdisc in floppy

    wait for prompt

type fdisk then delete partition then create partition and use whole drive (just press enter)
(is it create a primary partition ) or dos partition which i dont think it is

it will tell me disk is bigger than 512 do i want to continue press yes

then go back to prompt then FORMAT c: or FORMAT C.EXE

but i have also been told just to slap my xp disc in and it will let me do all this anyways at start up before installing xp

god i know this is a real newbie question that most of you will giggle at let me do it for you

    Boot off your XP disk.
Make the partitions when asked - if they are already made use the current ones (I strongly recomend you use NTFS over FAT32).
    Format the space if needed.
Windows will then continue to install XP.

Yep.. just use the XP cd. If I remember correctly you can create as many partitions as you like but once you go to format it goes to windows XP installation. You have to format all other partitions in windows once you're up and running. Remember to right click MyComputer>Manage>DiskManagement allows you sort your drive letters and format etc.

i dont want different partitions just the one c: so i just let the xp disk do its thing then

i dont wanna go creating loads of partitons so i just delete exsisting partitions and then just create the one then format it and let windows load up on it
